SEN Teaching Assistant
Start date: 7th December 2020 (or sooner if possible)
Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only (Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm)
Salary: Hay 9 (£16,024 - £17,691 per annum)
This is a temporary post subject to funding that will end when the funding ceases or the child leaves the school.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in reception class working to achieve his EHCP objectives. This child is a welcome addition to our school, demonstrating the following qualities:
• Kind, caring and warm
• Loves to be helpful and enjoys helping out with special jobs in the classroom
• Willingness to learn
• Sense of humour
You will be working as part of a supportive and experienced team of teaching assistants along with the Class Teacher, SENDCo, Pastoral Support, external agencies and parent/carer. The ability to develop positive relationships with all stakeholders is essential to this role.
Under the direction of the class teacher, the successful candidate will provide a programme of engaging activities to support the needs of this child, alongside helping this child settle into primary school.
Experience of working with children with speech and language difficulties and developing language through play plus experience or willingness to learn Makaton would be desirable.
