A vacancy has arisen for a part-time Sound/AV Technician to work one day a week supporting mainly the Music and Drama departments at William Hulme's Grammar School.
William Hulme's Grammar School (WHGS) is Manchester's most over-subscribed non-selective school and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. It is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious sound / audio-visual technician. You will join an inspirational team, dedicated to providing inspiring and engaging lessons and improving the life chances of our students. This is an exciting opportunity for you through the crucial role you play to make a real difference to the ways in which facilities are used to enhance learning at WHGS.
You will be suitably qualified and experienced to support all concerts, events and productions. You will also be involved in advising staff and students on the use of the technical facilities and coordinating a host of sound and visual resources. This role will see a large portion of time dedicated to the music department working in the recording studio/practice room areas and Mac suite. In addition, the drama department will require support in the performing arts centre and collaborative whole school events will see the Great Hall systems used. Your expertise will not only support the staff within these departments, but you will also work alongside and provide support to the students studying the relevant subjects too. Applicants should have relevant work experience and a good technical understanding of sound equipment along with being able to undertake a range of technical support activities.
The position is part time, term time only. The role holder will need to demonstrate a degree of flexibility and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours. The salary will be £19,000-£21,000 per annum.
