This Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant role is for 26.25 hours per week, term time only (38.4 weeks per year – term time plus 2 INSET days), breaks during the school day are to be taken unpaid. We would be willing to consider a job share arrangement.
St Mary’s CofE VC Infant School is a one-form entry 4-7yrs Infant School with 78 pupils on roll. There are 3 classes alongside various support staff. We were inspected by Ofsted to be Outstanding in February 2019 and received an Excellent rating in our SIAMS inspection (for Church schools) in July 2019.
The purpose of the role is to work alongside and under the direction of the SENDCO and the class teacher delivering a range of interventions and activities 1:1 to a named child in Reception and in small group situations within the classroom.
It is essential that candidate has:
- The ability to work as a member of team;
- A patient, calm nature;
- The proven ability to work on their own initiative;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English & Maths at Grade C/equivalent or above);
- Good organisational skills;
- Self motivation;
- A good sense of humour.
It is desirable that candidates have:
- Special needs experience.
This contract is to provide additional support for a named child. The appointment will terminate on the date that the child leaves the school or on the date that the need for the additional support ceases. Should the need for the level of support change then you will be given notice of that change accordingly, and this contract will be varied accordingly. The contract will initially run from September 2019 to July 2020.
Hours will be:
Monday – Friday, 8:45 – 12:00, 13:00 – 15:00 (1 hour unpaid lunchbreak)
The salary will be dependent on experience and will be within the range of Surrey Pay Grade PS3 which is currently £17,316 to £18,242 Full Time Equivalent (April 2019 rates). (Pro-rata for 26.25 hrs per week would be between £10,597.77 - £11,164.50 pa).
