South Wilford Endowed Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and hard-working Sports and Wellness Mentor to support children in and out of the classroom to maximise the participation of our children.
This is a fixed term contract for one year linked to funding.
The purpose of the post will be to plan, organise and deliver sports/PE based activities as part of the School Curriculum and to enhance the curriculum through bespoke activities which support and enrich children. You will provide opportunities for all pupils, increasing physical activity levels and ensure that activities positively re-engage disaffected pupils and support positive mental-health. The successful candidate will support children through mentoring and nurture support as part of our well-being team.
Responsibilities will include to plan, deliver and evaluate a range of safe, effective and motivating physical activity sessions that promote wellness of the body, mind and soul. This role is a special opportunity to use physical activity to engage with children and nurture the whole child.
You will be a positive role model, creating a fun environment in which to motivate and encourage all pupils to actively participate in Physical Education regularly.
You will organise and run a range of after school and lunch time clubs from Monday through to Friday, that reflect different ages and groupings of pupils. There will also be opportunities to develop the school’s participation in wider school sports events and competitions.
We are a long established and inclusive school with high ambition for all children and adults. We have a new, rich and diverse curriculum, which develops the whole child, including life skills and emotional well-being alongside academic progress. We are very excited to be developing a digital learning programme with Apple Classroom and we currently have individual iPads for all children in Years 2-6 to extend and engage them in their learning.
