About the role
We are looking for a Support Mentor to join our Student Support team.
As a Support Mentor you will work with students who are at risk of not achieving on their course. Helping students to overcome barriers to their engagement and learning, you will provide a programme of short-term, intensive interventions that help them build resilience, independence and develop the ability to make informed choices about their studies and their future.
The successful applicant will hold a sector relevant qualification at Level 3+ and have minimum Level 2 in English and Math. It is essential that you have experience of working in a support role within an education provider and be trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding. Experience of working in a mentoring role and of supporting students, especially with mental health concerns, would be desirable.
About the team
The Student Support team is a highly effective, multi-disciplined team who work to support vulnerable students and provide positive activity including enrichment, health and wellbeing, counselling, student finance and learner engagement.
Reporting to the Pastoral Coordinator, the Support Mentor role is a blend of responding to student need and providing positive developmental activity and events.
