(MPS & 1 SEN Point) required January 2022
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fitzalan High School cluster for an enthusiastic and committed teacher who has experience of working in specialist wellbeing provision. The post is suitable for a KS2/3 teacher with experience of supporting bespoke provision. Our cluster provision supports pupils in our cluster schools to succeed in mainstream provision. This post will commence in October 2021. It will be offered on a one year contract in the first instance. This is a unique opportunity to support our well established wellbeing provision at KS2 within a secondary school setting.
The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a teacher who has significant experience of working with pupils with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Needs (BESN) in either specialist provision or mainstream primary schools.
This post requires a level of specialist expertise, together with excellent interpersonal skills. It would offer an excellent opportunity for an individual who wishes to extend and enhance their professional development within the field of BESN.
Successful applicants will:
• Be proud to be part of the Fitzalan community
• Have high expectations of behaviour, achievement, attainment and presentation
• Plan and deliver exciting, challenging and effective learning experiences
• Give effective support to remove barriers to learning
• Encourage pupils to believe that they ‘can’
• Work together with pupils, staff and parents to succeed
• Be a good role model in all aspects of life
• Improve the learning outcomes and wellbeing of pupils with BESN
• Be willing to attend meetings across the cluster.
‘Nearly all pupils show respect to each other and to staff and are courteous to visitors. They value highly the diverse nature of the school community and the range of cultures, languages and religions represented by pupils and staff in the school. Most pupils approach their learning enthusiastically and are eager to achieve high standards. Their behaviour in lessons and around school is exemplary. Rates of exclusion are very low.’ Fitzalan Estyn Inspection February 2017.
The successful applicant would be part of the mainstream staff, supporting the school in meeting their responsibilities to pupils with BESN inline with the Graduated Response and ALNET Act. The role will also include working in collaboration and close partnership with the Behaviour Specialist team. This post is subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Checks.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge of the primary curriculum and preferably the ability to teach up to and including KS3. A strong commitment to extra-curricular activities is vital, as is a desire to be part of our drive for excellence.
You are welcome to contact the Headteacher, Mrs C Bradshaw, for an informal discussion.
Closing date: Thursday 23rd September 2021.
Fitzalan High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
