A well-qualified, innovative and motivated (newly qualified or experienced), teacher is required to join a highly successful department from 4th January 2021 to teach Criminology. We would also welcome applications from Teachers of Law and/or Sociology.
It is hoped to recruit an excellent and committed teacher who would want to contribute to the future success of the department and be fully involved in the delivery of courses for the 16-19 age group. They should aim to make their teaching an exciting experience for students and to involve them in a wide range of activities which enhance their understanding and commitment.
DEPARTMENT OF LAW CRIMINOLOGY & PUBLIC SERVICES
The department presently contains 5 members of staff with courses being available to students in A Level Law, Applied Certificate and Applied Diploma Criminology and Btec L3 Public and Protective Services.
Criminology is a new and extremely popular course at the college with six groups of students having enrolled in September for the Eduqas Applied Certificate. The course was first offered in September 2019 and is continuing to grow, we presently have four groups of second year students completing the Applied Diploma. Many of our students wish to progress into higher education and are keen to enter careers that are related to the subject. We are continuing to develop links with higher education and the professions to offer students greater insight into the opportunities available. In terms of content, the course combines elements of law, sociology and psychology.
With Law, we offer the OCR A Level course. This focuses on the English legal system, criminal law, civil law including tort and contract and the nature of law. Presently, we have two groups both in year 1 and year 2 with again a number of our students wishing to progress into higher education before pursuing a legal career. In addition to academic classes the department also offers the Law Professional Course which provides students with insight into future opportunities and routes available into the legal profession.
INTERVIEWS ARE STILL TO BE CONFIRMED BUT WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR AS SOON AFTER THE 19th OCTOBER DEADLINE AS POSSIBLE.
