We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of English.
Caldicot is an 11-18 co-educational school with over 1300 students based in Monmouthshire. The school is ideally situated between Chepstow and Newport, providing ease of access via the M4 corridor and on the northern side of the Severn Estuary. In 2017, we moved into a new £36m purpose-built site and now boasts some of the finest educational facilities in the country. However, Caldicot is more than just an amazing building. Visitors frequently comment on how friendly, approachable and, on the whole, how eager our students are to achieve their best during their time at school. Similarly, the school is blessed to have a dedicated team of staff who are fully committed to supporting students to achieve their fullest potential.
Over the last twelve months, there has been significant changes to the school which will lay the foundations for success in the future. Since June 2019, Caldicot and The Bishop of Llandaff CiW High School in Cardiff entered a partnership which sees a shared executive leadership model. The Executive Headteacher is responsible for providing strategic leadership for both schools and he is based at Caldicot for three-days per week to provide support and guidance to the leaders, staff and governors. A full restructure of the school's leadership has taken place which included the appointment of a new Head of School who joined in November 2019. In addition to the staffing restructure, a full review of the curriculum structure was completed in readiness for September. This sees the school move to 50 minute lessons, with English receiving 9 periods in Years 7 and 8; while 10 periods in Years 9, 10 and 11. The school was on course to achieve record breaking outcomes at both GCSE and A2 this summer. However, the forced closure of schools across the country has prevented students (and staff) from demonstrating their hard work over the past year.
We are looking for a talented individual to help strengthen the existing team. There is inifinite potential at Caldicot School and this is a unique opportunity to join a team at the start of its exciting school improvement journey. The role is ideal for a newly qualified teacher, looking for their first post; or someone with more experience hoping for a fresh challenge. We plan to interview for this post on 29th May to enable any staff currently employed at a school to give the appropriate notice. The interview will involve a written task and a remote interview.
Should you wish to find out more then please contact Samantha Maunders, PA to Executive Headteacher/Head of School. Similarly, if you would like an informal discussion with the Head of English and/or Executive Headteacher then please contact in the same way and this can be arranged.
