Limehurst Academy (2018 P8 score: +0.63) seeks to appoint an inspirational Teacher of Geography to work at our fantastic 11-16 school, which has 600 students on roll. You should be committed to the welfare and progress of students, as well as your own career development, and a desire to contribute to a friendly, hard-working team is a must.
We seek to appoint an inspirational teacher of Geography to join our very successful Humanities department. This post begins on Tuesday 27th August 2019.
Limehurst Academy is an over-subscribed and successful 11-16 school in the heart of Loughborough, and is a wonderful place to work. We are very proud to serve a multicultural community, and the school routinely celebrates its diversity. Visitors to Limehurst regularly comment on both the stimulating learning environment and the welcoming atmosphere offered by staff and students. We are a happy school, and we actively promote positive choices and having a can-do attitude.
In 2018, our students achieved a brilliant set of GCSE results. Our school Progress 8 score was above average, at +0.63, and our English Baccalaureate average points score was 4.85 – over one grade higher than the national average. The Department for Education classified Limehurst’s performance as well above average – its highest category. Around 600 students attend Limehurst, and this number allows us to robustly implement our ethos of ‘Achievement in A Caring Environment’. We were last inspected by Ofsted in March 2017, and we are currently judged as Good, with Behaviour & Safety judged to be Outstanding.
Also in 2018, we were named as the best secondary school in Leicestershire by the Real Schools Guide.
Our staff are of the very highest quality, and incredibly committed to the school. Staff development is given a high priority at every stage of a teacher’s career. No teacher teaches more than 21 out of 25 lessons.
Loughborough is a thriving market and university town in the heart of the beautiful Charnwood countryside. It has excellent road links, with the M1, M42 and A6 all close to the town. We are situated in the town centre, less than five minutes’ walk from regional bus connections, and fifteen minutes’ walk from Loughborough train station which serves all stations on the midland mainline. East Midlands Airport is less than twenty minutes’ drive away. World-class sport and arts can be found in the town itself and very locally, as can a huge variety of high-street and independent shops. There is plenty of affordable housing available in Loughborough and its surrounding cities, towns and villages.
If you are passionate about developing students’ aspiration, and helping them to achieve, Limehurst Academy is the place for you! You can learn more about the school and about this post by looking at the document attached, or by visiting our website.
