An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational teacher to join our well-established Mathematics Department. The position is full time, permanent and will commence in September 2020.
We have a strong tradition of academic success at KS4 and KS5, and our aim is to empower students with the mathematical skills needed for their future lives. We follow a Mastery curriculum across Years 7 to 9 building a deeper understanding of skills in preparation for GCSE.
At KS5 we offer A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and an ability to teach A level would be an advantage.
All staff have access to a computer and we are committed to developing Visual Learning with classrooms having digital projectors and interactive whiteboards. The Mathematics Department is situated off the main entrance of the School, on the first floor, in a suite of 6 dedicated rooms which were recently refurbished.
This position is suitable for an appropriately qualified teacher and will provide the successful candidate the possible opportunity to teach across all key stages. This post would be suitable for NQTs, as the department has close links with a number of ITT providers, and experience in mentoring colleagues new to the profession.
We continue to be a good school, as confirmed by Ofsted following their visit in March 2018, offering a high quality of education with recent observations recognising that our students are making strong progress in the majority of subjects.
In addition it was rightly observed that our students feel safe, and are safe, in school. This is achieved by the school’s culture of care and vigilance. All staff are firmly committed to ensuring that every student achieves their full potential.
Our fantastic report is a real vindication of our drive to develop confident, well informed and caring young adults who have self- belief and fully participate in their local, national and international communities; the school provides a wealth of additional opportunities for students to achieve these aims.
We are a popular and successful mixed 11-18 rural comprehensive school with c. 1000 NOR, situated ten miles north-west of Gloucester city, within three miles of the Herefordshire border. We are a high achieving school at the very heart of our community. We have a strong tradition of academic success within a positive and caring learning environment based upon mutual trust and respect.
Our 2019 GCSE results were excellent with 80% of students achieved grades 4+ (A*-C equivalent) in GCSE English and 74% achieved grades 4+ in Maths. Over 12% of all grades achieved by our students were either a grade 9-7 (A*-A equivalent). These excellent results are mirrored in many of the subjects in our wonderfully broad curriculum.
