Sunnydown is in a very fortunate position. We are an oversubscribed and very successful special School, catering for young men with Communication and Interaction Needs (CoIN).
Our experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants are highly versatile in their ability to deliver outstanding and transformational learning experiences in a range of subjects.
To compliment our dynamic team, we are seeking applications from similarly enthusiastic teachers to apply to join us with a start date of between April and September 2021. We can offer the right candidate hours ranging from 0.6-1.0 FTE. We would consider applicants from primary or secondary teachers and although some experience of working with young people with special educational needs is beneficial, it is not essential. Many of our current teachers have moved straight from mainstream environments as we follow many of the characteristics of mainstream schools.
We are looking for a Maths and/or Science specialist who can teach to GCSE standard with some of our boys looking to sit the higher GCSE paper in both subjects. The most important quality for us is to find someone who really enjoys working with young people and is passionate about exploring new ways to engage and learn in an exciting and engaging manner. The successful person will be flexible, keen to learn, able to adapt to changing situations and be able to work well within a supportive team environment. We would also be interested in any additional skills that might support our innovative Friday Curriculum which focuses on developing life skills through activities such as Outdoor and Adventurous Activities, DIY activities, Music and Performing Arts, problem solving and team building.
There is the opportunity to move quite quickly into a management role in leading a small department should the successful applicant demonstrate the skills for such a role. In a recent survey 100% of our staff indicate they enjoy working at Sunnydown and we are confident that for the right candidate this could prove to be a very exciting opportunity. Sunnydown School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. As such all successful applicants will be required to undertake a DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Applications from NQT's are welcome.
Closing date 24.03.2021
