Bishop Hedley Catholic High School is situated in Merthyr Tydfil, but its catchment extends from Quakers’ Yard to Merthyr Tydfil, and Glynneath to Brynmawr. Approximately 25% of pupils speak English as an additional language and 20% are on free school meals. We currently have 522 pupils on roll.
We would like to appoint an innovative, inspirational and ambitious Religious Studies teacher to join our successful team. The advertised role is vital to the continuing success of pupils. You will be part of a team of staff who are enthusiastic about their work, in a department that is highly popular at our school.
We are delighted to be able to share with you the report following our recent ESTYN inspection (November 2018) report, a copy of which is attached to this advertisement and is available via our website.
Across all key stages, performance within the school is in the top 25% of similar schools based on free school meal benchmarks. We have been categorised as a 1A Green school by Welsh Government for four consecutive years, the highest possible category. Our aim is quite straightforward. We want Bishop Hedley to continue to be one of the leading schools in Wales!

Applicants will receive the support of highly successful teachers and an outstanding NQT mentor if necessary. For more information about our school please view our attached Candidate Pack as well as our website, or contact Business Manager Jonathan Caple to arrange a school visit.
