We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated full-time Teacher of Sport and PE to deliver high quality coaching in our 4 focus sports – rugby, hockey, cricket and tennis. This is for a January 2021 start; however, we will consider a later start date for the right candidate.

Magdalen College School is seeking to appoint a hard-working, skilled and motivated individual with the ability to coach all 4 focus sports – rugby, hockey, cricket and tennis, to a high level within both Junior and Senior Schools. The role is to start in January 2021 but a later start date will be considered for the right candidate. The successful applicant will demonstrate administrative excellence, contribute to both Junior and Senior School sports programmes and work effectively with colleagues in both the sports department and from the Senior Common Room.
The Sports Department at MCS has grown in recent years and is now one of the largest departments in the school. The department oversees the running of both the Games and Physical Education programmes from 7-18. The focus sports for the boys are rugby, hockey, cricket and tennis, and for the girls include hockey, netball, athletics and tennis. There is also a broad range of clubs and extra-curricular activities, which pupils are encouraged to undertake.
The sports facilities are outstanding and include a superb sports hall, a refurbished gym and a dance studio in addition to a wide range of outdoor facilities. The school has 11 acres of on-site playing fields, which provide rugby pitches, cricket pitches and nets, football pitches and tennis/netball courts. We also have use of a number of off-site astro pitches including Iffley Road and Oxford Hawks facilities.
The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified individual, ideally with experience of coaching at least two of the focus sports to a high level. The candidate will also be expected to teach practical PE lessons to the Lower and Middle School, bring enthusiasm and expertise to Junior School sessions, as well as contribute positively to the administration of a range of sports.
