Teacher of the Deaf
Salary: £38,751 – £41,102 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Hours: 27.75 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic Tutor of the Deaf who is committed to the education of deaf students within a mainstream further education setting.
As a Tutor of the Deaf you will have excellent teaching skills and knowledge of SEND, the legal duties and Education Health & Care Plan processes.
You will be responsible for planning, implementing and reviewing support provision for deaf students most of whom have Education Health and Care Plans. You will also work as a member of the ALS team delivering high quality support to individuals and small groups of deaf students who have a range of hearing impairment needs. You will need to work closely with curriculum staff, support staff, parents and the wider community to effectively ensure that deaf students have full access to their study programme and consistently make good progress.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and experienced Tutor of the Deaf and have proven experience of delivering specialist support.
It is essential that you have QTS or QTLS, Teacher of the Deaf qualification (QToD) and British Sign Language L3 You must have Level 2, or equivalent, Literacy and Numeracy qualifications.
In addition to the minimum requirements detailed above, candidates will have high expectations for student achievement and a passion for sharing their expertise and knowledge.

The Additional Learning Support team provides individualised support to enable learners who have a range of learning differences, disabilities and other barriers to fully participate and engage with learning and the wider college experience.
