Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a World Class School with high expectations, encouraging our students to be aspirational with their learning and to enjoy all aspects of school life. We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join our committed and supportive Inclusion team. Our ideal candidate will have some experience of working alongside teenagers who struggle with aspects of their learning.
This post will primarily be based in the on-site specialist resource provision supporting pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement. Our provision is specially designed for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition and SEMH needs. All students within the provision will have an Educational Health Care Plan and will complete their learning in both the SRP and the mainstream.
You may have some experience of working alongside students with ASC and SEMH needs who struggle with aspects of their learning and social communication. You are educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent and may be looking to work towards an additional relevant qualification. Applicants with speech and language, ASC and SEMH experience are particularly desirable to suit our student’s needs at this time.
This post would also suit a graduate thinking of pursuing a teaching career or training to become an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant and would include opportunities to run intervention groups and work with small groups of students.
Working hours are 8.20am to 4pm Monday to Friday, which includes unpaid rest breaks and totals 36 working hours per week. The actual salary for this post working term time only, plus 23 days paid annual leave and 8 days bank holiday (45.2 weeks paid) is £17,253 - £17,673pa.
Employee wellbeing is a key part of our values, we have a wide range of incentives to engage staff and ensure they are appreciated and feel valued. Our benefits include Local Government Pension scheme; free eye tests; cycle to work scheme; free flu jabs; discounted membership for the on-site gym and on-site parking. We have an employee assistance programme, which includes free counselling services, plus across school we offer colleagues many opportunities for training, development and coaching. We like to get involved in the fun stuff too, supporting charity events and taking every opportunity to get together and have a cuppa in our dedicated staffroom.
