32.5 hours Fte – (Full time & Part time vacancies available )Term time only
The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) John Jamieson School is a 2-19 generic special school with 264 pupils on roll. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary, secondary and further education providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.
Due to planned expansion, an opportunity has arisen for permanent full time and part time Level 1 teaching assistants to work at the East SILC and could be based at the main John Jamieson school or any of our sites across the East SILC. The majority of our pupils have learning difficulties, and some have physical difficulties. Shortlisted candidates are expected to spend half a day in school prior to their interview.
We require a skilled, enthusiastic person who is willing to learn, support teaching and learning and address the personal needs of our pupils. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good communicator, cheerful, calm and be able to work as part of our team.
This is a permanent post subject to a 6 month probationary period.
The East SILC has a progressive staffing structure in place for teaching assistants which is supported by Continual Professional Development. A thorough induction process is in place.
