Springwood Primary is an inclusive school which provides excellent care, support and guidance for pupils between the ages of three and eleven. We have two local authority bases, a Wellbeing class and an ASC class. We are currently looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our Wellbeing class, located within our mainstream primary school.
The Wellbeing class provides small class provision, within a supportive and encouraging environment, for Foundation Phase pupils who have social, emotional and behaviour needs. The pupils attending the Wellbeing class will be referred from other schools within the authority for periods up to one term and a half. During their time in the Wellbeing class, the pupils will integrate into mainstream classes and their home school as appropriate. Teaching Assistants must be able to demonstrate the ability to focus on wellbeing and positive behaviour management with nurture principles at its core.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing children with Emotional Health and Wellbeing Needs. They will also have experience of numerous interventions that take account of a variety of learning styles.
The successful candidates will work as an integral part of Springwood Primary School staff team as well as working closely with Local Authority specialist teams and local schools, therefore effective interpersonal and organisational skills are vital. As part of this role you will travel across the city to attend meetings and networks to support the pupils in their mainstream schools.
Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
