Fishponds CE Academy is very excited to be opening a newly refurbished Special Needs Resource Base in conjunction with Bristol City Council for 8 children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) needs, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) on the School site as a capital investment to help support the acute shortage of Specialist provision in Bristol. The cohort will initially be EYFS and KS1, progressing through to KS2 in time.
Are you a Teaching Assistant looking for the next challenge in your career and passionate about providing the best support for our most complex children, enabling them to flourish in this new provision?
Are you prepared to go the extra mile in order to achieve the best outcomes for the children who will be accessing the Base?
Fishponds is a large, exciting, multicultural and multi-faith Church of England Primary School community in the city of Bristol. Our values and ethos are based on love and our close-knit team really do go the extra mile to engage our children in the exciting opportunities on offer at Fishponds. We wish to appoint highly motivated Teaching Assistants to join our brilliant team.
Fishponds is very excited to announce that it has just been awarded a ‘Good in all areas’ Ofsted rating and this has been achieved through the hard work of the team and our fantastic children. Special note was made by the Inspectors that ‘Leaders and staff are skilled in identifying and assessing pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. These pupils follow the full curriculum and learn well.’
The new Special Needs Resource Base is the next step in the SEN journey at Fishponds. The School has a high level of SEN children across the year groups and expertise in teachers and support staff alike will put the school in good stead in order to introduce the Base. The vision is that the children in the Base will access suitable activities/learning in the main school and vice-versa if the Base is able to offer support/skilled advice to those children in the school.
The School is currently working with Bristol City Council in determining the cohort of children who will access the Base in September, and a plan will be in place for a staggered start for the children and training for the staff, alongside new resources being purchased. This really is a very exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion to support children in a new Resource Base.
