Chart Wood is a special day/boarding school for boys (105 day pupils and students and 24 boarders) aged 9 to 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Some students also have co-existing conditions, such as a specific learning difficulty or a diagnosis of ASD. Staff: student ratios are favourable and support our students to achieve well. Chart Wood School was formed in June 2017 following the amalgamation of two schools, St Nicholas School and Starhurst School. Currently based in Merstham, and under the leadership of newly appointed Principal, Mr Graham Payne, we are undergoing development with a committed refurbishment and relocation to a site in Dorking, planned for September 2020.
We are looking for Teaching Assistants with drive and creativity to work under the guidance of teaching staff to support learners to make exceptional progress in all aspects of school life. You will supervise and provide particular support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities and create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work.
It is essential that you have experience of working with or caring for Children. Working within a school and with children with disabilities is desirable, however not essential.
