Overview

St. Thomas More school was built on the former site of Clare's Convent and as a former pupil of St Clare's (1958-1965) St. Thomas More is a school promoting high standards and high expectations in terms of teaching and children's learning, behaviour and standards of achievement. Our vision is to educate children in the spirit of the Gospel Values and the traditions of the Catholic Church nurturing the talents and potential of each individual.

About Us

Our Catholic School is centred around the Gospel values which are manifested in all aspects of our school life. It is recognised that all our children are unique individuals and as such we aim to ensure that they are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential: spiritually, socially and academically.

We aim to teach the academic National Curriculum to standards of excellence where every child develops to the peak of his/her capabilities. The school aims to be distinctive in its character by being a place of genuine forgiveness, generosity of spirit, value for the individual and recognising the needs of others

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Saint Thomas More Catholic Voluntary Academy was founded to pass on to the children the faith heritage of the local Catholic Community. Each child is valued as a unique individual, a child of God, made in the image of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In partnership with parents and parish and with God?s grace, the school tries to discern and help the child to develop fully as a person with particular gifts and aptitudes. Guided and challenged by Gospel values, the school aims to provide a community in which the child will grow and experience the love of God, self and neighbour.

LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU

"Indeed the life of faith can only be effectively nurtured when the prevailing atmosphere is one of respectful and affectionate trust. I pray that this may continue to be a hallmark of the Catholic Schools in this country." (Pope Benedict?s address to Teachers and Religious – 17/9/2010)

"The overall effectiveness of the Catholic life of the school and commitment to community cohesion are at the heart of this outstanding Catholic School, where each child knows they are valued as a unique creation of God." (Diocesan Ofsted
