About Us

St. Peter's Catholic Primary School is a Voluntary Academy and is a one form entry school in the town centre of Hinckley. There has been a school on the site for over a hundred years. The current building dates from 1907, with further additions in 1933, 1995 and 1998.

The school is a two storey building, infants downstairs and juniors upstairs. There are seven well proportioned classrooms, a hall, ICT suite, studio, library, kiln room, staffroom, offices, kitchen and First Aid room. St. Peter's Catholic Church is close to the school and children make regular visits throughout the year. The parish Priest, Father Frank Daly, is very supportive of the school and gives a great deal of his time to helping staff, governors and children.

The Aims of the School

We aim for children to:
• Have a positive experience of the Catholic faith, making prayer,
worship and liturgy real and meaningful to children, so that they grow
and develop their own personal faith and conscience and come to know
the love of God for themselves, by taking as full a part as possible in
the Christian life of the School.
• Find out about world religions and cultures through taking
opportunities to explore similarities and differences, which will enrich
them and help foster qualities within them of tolerance and
understanding, whilst actively resisting racism and bigotry.
• Help create a school community, in partnership with the home and
parish, based on Christ’s commandment of “Love one another”, which
shows care and concern for all and the environment, and is
characterised by honesty and the desire to improve.
• Use the school’s provision of a quality curriculum, within a supportive
environment, to develop enquiring minds and a spirit of curiosity
• Be able to work both independently and collaboratively, being flexible
and adaptable to the demands of a modern world.
• Recognise that they are unique individuals, with their own innate
qualities and God-given talents and that they may take opportunities
offered to them to develop and use their talents towards taking their
place as useful members of society.
