Perseid became a specialist school for communication and interaction in April 2009 and was designated a Teaching School (in partnership with a local MLD school) in April 2012.
The school is situated over two campuses (one primary and one secondary) and caters for students with severe and profound learning difficulties. About a third of the students also have autism spectrum disorders. A minority of students have additional sensory impairments or behaviour difficulties.
The Ofsted inspectors recently rated Perseid School as 'Outstanding' for the third time.
