Welcome to the Prince Henry's High School career site

We are searching for the best education professionals

Overview

Welcome to our career site which provides us with the perfect platform to showcase the school and give you a flavour of what makes Prince Henry’s the special place that it is. Our mission is to create and develop the very best teaching and learning environment for all our students and staff based upon the virtues of sound universal values, to ensure that our students leave the school with a first class education that becomes fully embedded into their future lives. Our exceptionally enthusiastic, dedicated, talented, highly qualified and professional team of teachers and support staff are the bedrock upon which these objectives have been successfully delivered for successive generations.

Prince Henry’s is located in the picturesque South Worcestershire market town of Evesham, within easy travelling distance of Worcester, Cheltenham, Stratford and Birmingham. Although its origin dates from 1377 when it was established as an Abbey School, it has evolved over the centuries and is now a highly successful and thriving 13-18 co-educational Comprehensive Academy with approximately 1,300 students, including a strong Sixth Form of approximately 340, with a fair representation of students throughout the ability range.

Exam outcomes and progress and attainment measures are consistently high. Each year more than 85% of our Sixth Form students go on to university, with over 35% of our students being awarded places at Oxbridge, Russell Group and Times Top 20 universities. As importantly, nearly every student progressing to Higher Education or an Apprenticeship secures a place on a course or training programme that is the right one for them.

Consistently judged outstanding by Ofsted, we have been a Teaching School since 2014 and have been a SCITT since 2017, currently supporting our fourth cohort of 22 trainees as they embark on their teaching careers. Offering a wide range of CPD, we are proud of the support and career development opportunities that we are able to give colleagues, whatever stage they are at in their teaching career.

If you share our passion for nurturing the talent of each and every student in order that they can fulfil their potential and become the best person they can be, we would welcome your application to become a part of Prince Henry’s thriving community.

Mission Statement

OUR MOTTO:

Parva Magna Crescunt  - Great things will grow from something small

OUR MISSION

To create and develop the very best Teaching and Learning environment for all our students and staff based upon the virtues of sound universal values.

OUR AIM

To enable our students to leave Prince Henry’s with a first class outstanding education that becomes fully embedded and integrated into their future lives.    This will be achieved by:-

  • Recruiting teachers to Prince Henry’s who represent excellent universal role models: highly qualified, courteous, professional, and happy to help all students at all times.
  • Ensuring Prince Henry’s staff instil into our students the universal values outlined below.
  • Ensuring the facilities and resources available are suitable and well maintained for an appropriate teaching environment.
  • Providing a modern, broad, balanced, relevant and sustainable curriculum, so that our provision supports the individual needs of all of our students.
  • Listening and responding appropriately to any parental queries on a personal basis, and supporting parents and carers with their child’s journey through Prince Henry’s High School.
  • Being relentless in the quest for outstanding continuous improvement in all areas of Prince Henry’s High School.

BRITISH VALUES

The Government emphasises that schools are required to ensure that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools.  The government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy.    The five British Values are:

Democracy:  The principle of democracy is consistently being reinforced at Prince Henry’s with democratic processes being used for important decisions within the school community, for instance, elections being held for Head Boy and Girl and Prefects’ positions.  The principle of democracy is also explored in the History and Religious Studies curriculum as well as in form time and assemblies.

Mutual Respect:  Respect is a strong part of Prince Henry’s ethos.  Students learn that their behaviours have an effect on their own rights and those of others.  All members of the school community treat each other with respect and this is reiterated through its teaching and learning environments.   Mutual respect is embraced throughout the curriculum by providing the opportunity for students to express their views in a safe environment.

The Rule of Law:  Students are taught the rules and expectations of the school, which are highlighted in the planner (information sent home and website), the student code of conduct and behaviour expectations document.  Students are taught the values and the reasons behind laws that govern and protect us.  They also understand the responsibilities involved and the consequences when laws are broken.  Visits from authorities such as the police and fire service reinforce this message.

Tolerance of Those of Different Faiths and Beliefs:  Students benefit from a number of international visitors, including students from other continents and cultures.  Our curriculum enables our students to have a broad and balanced education on a range of faiths, religions, cultures and race.

In a wider context we support Remembrance, educate our students about the Holocaust, actively participate in Duke of Edinburgh Award, promote the Olympic and Paralympic values through our assemblies and engage in international exchanges.

Individual Liberty:  Students are actively encouraged to make independent choices, with the knowledge that they are in a safe, secure and supportive environment. We provide boundaries for students to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering education.   Students are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised on how to exercise these safely, for example through e-safety and form time work.
