The school benefits hugely from its expansive grounds, a wonderful legacy of its history as a school for older pupils. We have two large sports fields, one of which has an artificial cricket pitch at its centre, two newly-refurbished tennis courts, a hall, dining hall and gymnasium, two ICT suites, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a large, well-furnished library, music room, cookery room and nurture room. We also have wrap around care including a breakfast club, full day nursery and after school club.
We are proud of the school buildings; ranging from the 1920s, to a substantial and impressive new block opened in 2010. We believe these provide a positive environment for learning and, unusually for a big primary school, we believe they do provide just about enough space.
This school enjoys a highly skilled and committed teaching community, who performs strongly and shows dedication to the pupils. They are proud of the school and its achievements, and they demonstrate this in their work with other local schools, their commitment to being inclusive for all pupils, and their positive relationships with the parent community. The school currently employs 46 teachers and 65 teaching support assistants. Staff turnover is low.
