Five Lanes is a popular two form entry school, serving the families of the Wortley community. The well being of our children is at the heart of our work, and we are proud to provide an outstanding level of personal development and care, guidance and support, which in turn allows the children to achieve academically.

Ofsted (May 14) commented that "The school's mission statement, Aiming High, is reflected in pupil's good behaviour.  The caring attitudes they show towards each other and the adults who work with them are often commented on by visitors.  Their good attitudes to learning help them make good progress and achieve well in the classroom."

Our curriculum is broad and exciting, and this means pupils of all ages and abilities make good progress.  Children enjoy school, and thus is reflected in our higher than average attendance rates.  "Pupils enjoy school and are eager to attend." Ofsted (May 14)

Our school enjoys great support from many people, not least parents and governors. The PTA works tirelessly to raise money so that children can enjoy many curriculum enhancements, such as additional resources, and funding for educational visits and special visitors. This greatly supports our ability to provide a curriculum that is vibrant, meaningful, and full of memorable experiences.

Caring for others is a high priority at Five Lanes and as a school we are continually seeking to reach out into both the local and international community. Through such activities as our established partnership with another school, Scoala Generala Nr27, Romania, our children develop into responsible, caring global citizens. We have achieved Healthy School's Status, the Stephen Lawrence Award, an International Schools Award, and are a lead partner school for Sustainability.
