Our Vision At Greenfields, we aim to provide a happy and safe school where children reach their full potential and enjoy learning. We work closely with our local community, creating a safe environment for all of our children.

Greenfields Community School is situated in the heart of the Meadows area of Nottingham. It is one of three primary schools which serve this area of the inner city. The school opened in September 2005 following the amalgamation of the Arkwright and Meadows Primary Schools.

Situated between the Nottingham railway station and the River Trent, the Meadows area was widely redeveloped during the 1970s and consists of an extensive area of redeveloped housing and an area of original Victorian buildings.

The original school building itself was built in 1972 and is situated within its own grounds. It comprises a predominantly open plan building with a separate Key Stage One department adjacent to the main building. The Foundation Unit is situated in a building across the field and is attached to a SureStart Children’s Centre with which the school works very closely.

The entire school was refurbished with the addition of a brand new Performance Hall, ICT Suite, Art Room, Parents Room and bigger classrooms in 2010-11 as part of the “Building Schools for the Future” programme.

The number on role at present is 210 with an additional 60 places for Foundation aged children. There are six single year group classes in school. The Foundation Unit caters for Nursery and Reception children.

The Meadows community is culturally rich and diverse with almost 80% of the school coming from minority ethnic backgrounds, the main ethnic group being Pakistani Muslim children. The school is extremely fortunate to have children from such a large variety of backgrounds. Altogether, more than twenty eight different languages are spoken within the school.

Greenfields is already a very successful school. It’s first OFSTED Report (in February 2008), recognised that, although still a new school, “This is a good school, moving forward in all aspects of its work. Through good leadership and management, the pupils have adjusted well to their new learning environment. They are responding to the high expectations of staff and the good quality learning experiences available to them. Central to all that the school does is the celebration of its multi-ethnicity.”

In addition to this, the school’s performance in Key Stage Two SATS over the last three years has put it in the top 5% of all schools nationally for the progress that children make in the school from Foundation to Year 6. For the year 2009-10, Greenfields was the highest performing school in the City of Nottingham at Year 6 and in the top five for 2010-11 and the top 10 for 2011-12.

Greenfields was inspected by OFSTED again in March 2013 and was judge to be "Outstanding" in all areas. This is a fantastic achievement and one of which we are very proud.

Nottingham and East Midlands in Bloom

Greenfields is a "Nottingham in Bloom" winner!!

We have heard this week that Greenfields has won two important awards.

Firstly, we have been judged to have won the "Best School Grounds" competition in Nottingham in Bloom. We will be going to pick up our award on Thursday 19th September.

And we have also won the East Midlands in Bloom "Best School Garden 2013" award! This is a great achievement as the award is given to the best school in the whole East Midlands area. At a special ceremony in Skegness, we were awarded a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal.

We were also delighted that the Meadows has won the "Urban Community" award with a RHS Silver Gilt medal. Well done to everybody involved!

Greenfields is an "Outstanding" school!

We are delighted to let you know that, following a visit by Ofsted Inspectors in March 2013, Greenfields Community School was judged to be an "outstanding" school!

The inspection, which lasted for two days on March 20th and 21st, judged the school to be "outstanding" (Ofsted's highest judgement) in all four areas - the quality of teaching and learning; the attainment of the children; the behaviour and safety of the children and the leadership and management of the school.

We are absolutely delighted with this achievement
