Welcome

Alderman Richard Hallam Primary School is a good school. It is very popular with more applicants than places available in the Foundation and Key Stage One. The school has a caring environment, good working relationships and a calm, positive atmosphere. Alderman Richard Hallam Primary School is a place where people matter and we are very proud of the tradition the school has for taking care of and supporting children as they learn and develop. Parents, carers, teachers, support staff and children have worked together to make this a good school where children are happy, well behaved and successful.

In the website we have tried to convey something of the life of the school, but perhaps the best way to really get to know the school is to see it in action. If you want to know more about the school please make an appointment for a visit. You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.

About Us

“We believe... every child can achieve, every child can succeed”

At Alderman Richard Hallam Primary School we pride ourselves on ensuring all children receive the highest standard of education possible. There are no restrictions placed on learning. We actively encourage children to develop their own learning strategies using the indoors, outdoors and the wider community. Children can learn in our Forest School, try activities at local secondary schools, take part in programs run by Leicester City Football Club and develop a range of skills through initiatives run at De Montfort University. We also provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities that children can choose from.

We give all learners the tools and aspirations to make their own choices and decisions. Learning has no limits at Alderman Richard Hallam Primary School.

Pupils follow a rich and comprehensive curriculum. We provide pupils with a thorough coverage of the National Curriculum in a way that engages pupils through a topic based curriculum. Each topic is centred on what pupils are interested in and what they want to learn about. This child initiated approach ensures that pupils have a firm grasp of subjects and also a passion for life-long learning.

Pupils receive an excellent quality of teaching and learning at our school. Throughout the morning, pupils take part in exciting and dynamic lessons that promote a love for learning, resilience and imagination.

The pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning by working both independently and collaboratively with others.

We know that pupils at Alderman Richard Hallam leave our school as confident, lifelong learners with the ability to adapt in an ever changing world.

Mission and Aims

What we intend to do - The School Mission

  • We will promote learning. We see this as a life long process and we define learning in terms of skills, concepts, knowledge, understanding, attitudes and values. This prime purpose will direct everything that the school attempts to do because we believe..."An educated person is someone who appreciates what is good and beautiful, has a hunger for knowledge and a fearless respect for the truth."
  • We will give every child an equal chance to develop. We will strive to give all children a common entitlement to a good to outstanding curriculum.
  • We will provide pupils with opportunities for quiet reflection, personal guidance and counselling.
  • We will create a learning environment that promotes the development of creativity, confidence and self-esteem, because we believe the key to successful learning is self-confidence.
  • Every individual connected with the school will be granted dignity and respect at all times and given the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential because we believe that people are our most important asset.
  • We will attempt to develop the best possible contact between home and school because parents and carers play a vital role in the educational process. We will encourage a partnership between parents, carers, staff, governors and the community that will benefit the pupils in our care, and the community we serve.
  • We will build a school ethos marked by high expectations, within an environment that seeks to harness the instinctive generosity and enthusiasm of the young in the conscious service of others.
  • We will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
