Vision and Aims

Our Vision

The Ferns Primary Academy will be a school where children are put first in every decision that we make. Every child will have the best possible chance to succeed. The school will be a learning community, where hard work and perseverance is valued.  All children will be provided with a motivating and creative curriculum and supported in achieving their potential.

Our Aims

At The Ferns Primary Academy, we know that pupils only have one chance when it comes to education and we believe that chance should be the best it can be.

The school will:

  • Put children’s wellbeing, progress and happiness first before any other considerations.
  • Provide an inspiring curriculum to ensure that children are engaged, motivated and enjoying their learning.
  • Establish a culture of self-belief by offering a range of opportunities and experiences, enabling children to experience success across the curriculum and during additional activities.
  • Provide high quality professional development opportunities for teaching and support staff to ensure that children receive teaching at a good or outstanding level on a daily basis.
  • Encourage innovation and improvement in all areas of school life.
  • Celebrate progress and success in all areas.
  • Forge partnerships with other schools for the benefit of the children at our school.
  • Liaise and work closely with parents to ensure children make the most of all opportunities provided.

About Us

We are a small, happy school where staff, parents and governors work closely together to give children the best possible introduction to school life.

We are a school that puts children first – their welfare, their progress and their happiness – in everything that we do.  We want children to become motivated, engaged and enthusiastic learners.

A variety of teaching and learning styles are used, including whole class, group activities and individual work. This allows the individual needs of the children to be catered for by both teaching and support staff. All staff plan the work for the children using detailed schemes of work that have been devised to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum, and also build on previous work. Teachers and support staff work closely together to ensure that this approach delivers continuity for every child.
