In 2016 Mathematics achieved 81% A* - C, and 27% A* - A. This year 30% of pupils achieved A* or A grades in 5 or more subjects and 54% achieved the English Baccalaureate.We are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher to the role of Lead Practitioner Mathematics. This role will be suited to someone who is keen to share their enthusiasm and inspire colleagues and students with their passion for Maths, whilst contributing ideas and new approaches to the new curriculum and our assessment practices. Our department of 13 teachers embraces new pedagogy and was recently involved in the Shanghai Teacher exchange developed by the Maths Hub. As a result we are developing a mastery curriculum for all year groups and have an hour per week allocated to us to collaboratively develop this practice. We can offer 12 specialist teaching rooms with electronic whiteboards and a dedicated Maths ICT suite.As Lead Practitioner for Mathematics you will have the opportunity to work with trainee teachers from a variety of settings. You will have the opportunity to mentor students from the PGCE course at the University of Cambridge and will be the Subject Support Link for SCITT students from the CTSN (Cambridge Teaching Schools Network).The department is a strategic partner of the Cambridge Maths Hub, working with the hub to offer CPD for maths teachers throughout the county and beyond. We run a range of extra-curricular events, challenges and trips linked with local STEM centres.We are a village community school located close to Cambridge with excellent transport links to Cambridge and the pretty market town of St Ives.Swavesey Village College enjoys a considerable local and national reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
