Thank you for your interest in our Clerk to the Governors position at West Gate School. West Gate School is an over-subscribed special setting for 4 – 19 year olds. We cater for children and young people with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Most of our pupils have severe learning difficulties, speech language and communication difficulties and autism spectrum conditions. We are a rapidly improving school with many strengths. We require an enthusiastic, proactive and experienced Clerk to Governors to work closely with the Chair of the Governing Body and other Governors. It will be expected that the successful candidate will have undertaken the National Clerks to Governors training programme or will commit to completing this within the first year of appointment. The Governing Body has been instrumental in strategically leading and developing key areas of work and now requires a Clerk who can sustain that momentum. You will need to be an accurate note-taker who can provide this service for a range of different meetings. You will also be expected to support, challenge and advise Governors so they meet their statutory obligations, as well as signpost them to training and offer guidance on best practice.The start date for this position is Monday 14th May 2018. This will allow due time for a handover from the outgoing Clerk. Appendix:The salary for the above role has been calculated taking the below information into account:Based on 4 meetings per term @ 15 hours per meeting - this incudes time to organise the agenda, send out papers, attend the meeting (approximately 2 hours), type up minutes etc.Total 12 meetings per year @ 15 hours per meeting = 180 hours per annum.In addition – to attend 3 Clerk to Governor briefing sessions at the authority per annum @ 2 hrs per meeting = 6 hours.Total hours = 186 per annum equating to an actual salary of £2,337.45As Clerk you will also be required to attend any hearings that the school undertake and the odd additional meetings that may arise for other purposes.For hearings you will receive a payment of £330 per meeting @ 3 per annumFor additional meetings you will receive a payment of £220 per meeting.This then adds a further £1,660 to the above salary.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Total salary for the role = £3,997.45
