Overview

Rokeby was originally a prep school in Wimbledon that was founded in 1877. In 1965 the then owner of the school stated his intent to close it, and a group of parents decided that it must be rescued. Rokeby Educational Trust Limited, a charity, was set up in 1966 to establish a successor school on its current site.

For many years, the school made use of external sports facilities that were hired from year to year. After nearly 10 years of searching, the school finally succeeded in buying its own sports fields in Old Malden in 2003, some 10 minutes from the school, where a new pavilion was built.

About Us

In keeping with our ethos of enabling boys to become Smart and Skilful, the curriculum at Rokeby is successful in a comprehensive and balanced syllabus which surpasses the National Curriculum requirements providing the right learning to prepare boys in every way for their future schools. The aim is not only to equip them for the particular pre-tests and then the Common Entrance or Scholarship Examinations, but also to teach them a breadth of skills which will serve them well both in their next schools and their future lives.

All Rokeby boys will develop pride in themselves and in their achievements. They will develop pride in how they think and learn, how they deport themselves and how they appear to others. They will learn to develop pride in how they behave towards others and towards their environment. They will learn to achieve their very best, to stretch their minds and become confident in their learning. They will build a solid foundation of knowledge about the world and apply it to the challenges of real life as they become more aware. They will know how to talk to others, how to act in groups, how to relate to adults and how to cope well in challenging situations. They will learn how to work well to achieve high standards but without becoming over-stressed, exhausted or obsessively perfectionist.

We want our boys to achieve well across the board. We will help them to achieve high results, to aim for excellence and to celebrate all of their achievements.

We want each boy to specialise according to his particular aptitudes. We want him to experience the pleasure of developing competence and of becoming confident to deal effectively with the many challenges of life.
