Portesbery is an all age day school (2 -19 years) catering for children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Pupils may have additional sensory impairments, physical difficulties or challenging behaviour. 

The school first opened on January 29th 1973 and was designed under the Ministry of Health prior to Special Schools becoming the responsibility of the Ministry of Education under the 1970 Education Act; as a result it was taken over and built by the Education Authority. 

In 2015 the school moved in to brand new, purpose-built premises in Deepcut, Camberley.
