Claygate is a two-form entry primary school for children aged 4-11, located in a wonderful setting in the heart of Claygate in Surrey. The children benefit from outstanding facilities which include a 20m heated swimming pool, a pond and wildlife area, an allotment and excellent curriculum resources. As a school our 'core business' is obviously children's learning.
The teaching of English and mathematics is therefore given a very high priority and standards in those two subjects are consistently high. But we also believe that our role is to provide children with a broad education in which their development in all areas is stimulated and nurtured. We therefore emphasise the creative side of children's development (through art, music and drama for example); their physical development through the PE curriculum; their growth as responsible and caring members of society through the school's ethos; and their social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.
We provide a wide range of activities for children beyond the 'formal' curriculum. In addition to class outings and trips to places of interest we also have a full programme of visitors to the school including theatre groups, musicians and guest speakers. There is also an extensive extra-curricular programme. We work closely with a range of charities, and over the past few years the children have raised thousands of pounds for organisations such as NSPCC, WaterAid, NCH, Barnados, and Comic & Sport Relief.
