About Pembrokeshire College Pembrokeshire College is a dynamic and high quality provider of education and training, providing opportunities for 2,000 full time and approximately 12,000 part time learners on a wide range of further education, higher education, work based learning, international, and online learning programmes. The roots of the College can be traced back to 1956, and the main campus is situated in Pembrokeshire’s county town of Haverfordwest.
The economic infrastructure in the county is one which is dominated by small employers and those who are self-employed. However, the multinational businesses based on or around the Haven waterways form an extremely important part of the economic make-up of the County, through which nearly 30% of the UK’s oil and gas is imported. Since the appointment of the current Principal Sharron Lusher in 2012, the College has seen significant strides forward in collaboration and partnership working.
Higher education has been expanded through a strategic alliance with Swansea University, while a newly established Work-based Learning (WBL) Consortium sees the College leading six colleges and three private providers in the delivery of a £12m contract training 5,000 apprentices and trainees annually. The 2015 Estyn inspection of WBL saw the College receive five ‘excellent’ and ten ‘good’ judgements, placing the College among the top colleges for WBL delivery in Wales.
In 214 the College celebrated its strongest A-level results to date with 33.3% of learners achieving A-A* grades.
