Chinthurst is an independent day school for approximately 140 boys and girls aged from 2 years 9months, to 11 years. It is a growing school which has recently become a part of the Reigate Grammar School family.
The school is located between the villages of Walton-on-the Hill and Tadworth. It was established in 1908 and has an excellent academic and sporting reputation, sending children to the most selective senior schools in the area.
The main responsibilities will include:
Signing off, checking and storing food supplies appropriately
Preparation of food and beverages
Cooking of meals in accordance with menus
To assist in the organisation of and the serving of food
Creativity of food preparation
To monitor all temperature records in line with H.A.C.C.P
To show due diligence for correct food handling inline with current legislation
General kitchen and dining room duties e.g. setting up, clearing away equipment and tables, washing up
Cleaning of the kitchen, surrounds and equipment regularly during the day and at the end to comply with hygiene standards and safe-working environment
Ensure all dietary allergies and requirements are taken seriously and no crosscontamination of foods during storage, preparation and serving
Deputising for higher grades during periods of absence
To cater as required for school events either during or after the school day
To ensure kitchens and stores are effectively locked and prevent access to pupils and staff
To ensure all school policies, systems and procedures are adhered to at all times and report any deviances
To keep abreast of industry best practice by actively looking at ways to improve the catering provision on a daily basis as well as via training courses
General

Attend training and staff INSET sessions to ensure a consistent approach across all staff

The Person
The successful candidate will have, or be able to demonstrate, the majority of the following: Qualifications/skills
Satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure
Numerate and literate – ability to read, write and speak English to a good standard
Good communication skills;
Knowledge of Government guidelines in School Meal Nutrition
A working knowledge of the 2014 Government allergen laws
Computer literate especially with MS Office packages
Experience of good catering and hygiene practice

Due to the nature of the job, all catering staff are subject to a health assessment to ensure they are physically active and fit enough to fulfil the requirements of the position. Although a day school, many activities happen in the evenings and at weekends, and the successful candidate will be expected to cater for some of these events.
