Headteacher’s Welcome

I am proud to be Headteacher of Allerton Grange School. We are a GOOD and rapidly improving school. Standards across the school continue to rise and students are making better progress in their learning as a result. This is evidenced in our 2019 examination results.

For the fourth year in a row, we have seen an improvement in our students’ achievements in GCSE and ‘A’ Level examinations.

This year in our GCSE results we were delighted to see 43 top grades of 8s and 9s, a testament to the hard work of students and staff. Outcomes were particularly good in Maths, English Literature, English Language, History, Geography, Languages, Music, Drama and GCSE PE. Following a huge improvement last year, Science have also maintained the strong standard we saw in last year’s results.

Our ‘A’ Level results have also continued to rise with a range of subjects performing better than in 2018, notably Geography, Criminology and Law, and strong results in English Literature, English Language, Geography, History, Fine Art, Photography, ICT and Sociology.

The success of Allerton Grange School is down to the students who conduct themselves well in class, around school and are keen to succeed; and the hardworking, dedicated staff who have the highest expectations for every student.

Al staff work tirelessly to create the environment where our students are safe, secure and happy. My priorities as Headteacher at Allerton Grange School are to maintain this safe calm and purposeful atmosphere and to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning is the best possible. As a result our student will continue to demonstrate their ability to Aspire, Grow and Succeed.

Overview

Allerton Grange is a large and rapidly improving school, where students of all backgrounds and abilities are happy and make positive progress. We currently have 1700 students, with an intake of 300 students each year in Year 7.

We have an impressive school building, with a newly opened Sixth Form Centre, housing our diverse community of 260 post-16 students. Allerton Grange is located 4 miles from Leeds City Centre in an attractive area of privately owned residential properties.

Our increasing success is due to our rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum supported by four cornerstones: knowledge, literacy, aspirational enrichment and social mobility. We have high expectations of our students and they are keen to succeed. We give them every opportunity to know more, understand more, experience more and access more.

Every student is cared for as an individual; staff work relentlessly to ensure our students are safe, secure and happy. We have resourced provision for deaf and hearing impaired students. We also have a number of visually impaired students.

Our latest Ofsted inspection (February 2020) recognised the quality of provision we provide. They were particularly impressed by our curriculum and focus on staff wellbeing.

Ofsted quotes (February 2020)

  • “Parents and carers are very positive about the school. They say their children are happy and make good progress. We agree.”
  •  “Leaders want every pupil to aim high and fulfil their potential. Leaders also aim to give pupils the skills to be successful in the modern world.”
  • “Staff feel valued and supported and proud to be working at Allerton Grange. They appreciate leaders’ efforts to make their workload manageable.”

At Allerton Grange, we challenge ourselves to continually improve and grow as a staff community. We welcome applications from motivated, knowledgeable people who align with our school ethos and strongly believe in social justice.
