The governors, staff, pupils and parents of Banstead Community Junior School all work together to provide a creative, stimulating and secure environment where pupils and staff are motivated to learn, are valued as individuals, are encouraged to reach their full potential and have a strong respect, understanding and tolerance of the wider community.

To achieve its aims the school:

Creates a safe and inclusive learning environment that enriches and adds value to all children academically, emotionally and socially.

Has effective cross curriculum links, where pupils are encouraged to achieve high standards and our staff confidently make the best use of Computing and the latest technology to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Recognises the individual learning needs of pupils, enabling them to maximise their potential and successfully take the early steps toward economic and emotional well-being.

Actively listens to pupils, giving them a meaningful voice and encouraging their participation in developing the school.

Builds up a partnership with pupils, parents/carers, governors and community members to create an environment where they can have a positive effect on the life of the school.

Become life-long learners whose thirst for knowledge has been nurtured by an exciting and creative curriculum where links between subjects enhance pupils’ knowledge and where pupils are encouraged to become adaptable, flexible, independent, self-motivated learners.

Become self-confident communicators who have learned to express themselves through a range of participative media: writing, speaking and listening, Computing and the creative arts. Lead healthy and physically active lives through a broad and balanced curriculum

Become resilient, self-disciplined, well-motivated and independent young people who are equipped with essential life skills of self-confidence, self-esteem and self-respect enabling them to inter-act positively.  

Become citizens of the future who have developed a strong respect, understanding and tolerance of others through active citizenship, engagement with the wider community and an awareness of cultural, ethnic and religious diversity.

About Us

We are very fortunate to have such wonderful facilities...

These include two playgrounds, a large sports field, a swimming pool, pond and wildlife area, a pavilion, trim trail and a Greek garden which we use as an outdoor classroom, and another outdoor classroom in our garden area.

The School is divided into two buildings, housing twelve classrooms, an art room, a music/learning room, a mixed practical room with cooking facilities, a library, ICT Suite and a multi-purpose hall.

There are currently 336 children in the school, ages range from 7 to 11 years. 

Our school aims are:

To create a secure, happy, caring and supportive community in which the confidence and self-esteem of every member can grow.

To ensure that the curriculum is broad and balanced and within which every pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

To ensure pupils become independent in their learning and to develop positive attitudes and values towards others in the school and community.
