We are very pleased to welcome you to Begbrook Primary Academy, a large primary school located in a modern, airy building on the edge of Bristol in wonderful, spacious grounds bordering on Snuff Mills.

Our school has a lovely atmosphere and is a caring, supportive, harmonious community where we strive to make sure that every child achieves their full potential educationally, socially and personally. Begbrook children come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, and we are proud of our reputation for promoting equal opportunities for all children regardless of race, gender, ethnic background and special needs.

The school traces its origins to a Victorian school in Brinkworthy Road, Stapleton. In 1946 pupils were transferred to the present site and the school was renamed Begbrook School. It occupied buildings which had previously been used as a wartime hospital. In 2003 the school was completely rebuilt and is now housed in the modern, light, airy buildings you see today. We have extensive grounds bordering on Snuff Mills with large playing fields, mature trees, purpose-built play areas for our reception, nursery and year one children, an adventure playground, a large tarmacked playground, cultivated raised vegetable beds and a nature reserve all within our perimeter. As you can imagine, this environment gives our children fantastic opportunities for outdoor learning.

In September 2012, we left the local authority to join the Cabot Learning Federation with whom we have had a strong partnership for several years. We and our partner primary schools are benefiting from the extra opportunities this is giving us to improve our teaching and learning, and we will also be able to use the facilities at other local Cabot Learning Federation schools.

Our school adopts a curriculum that reflects the aims and values of the school in the content and character of the curriculum. Our pupils show respect and tolerance towards others enabling them to make positive relationships with a wide range of people. Throughout their time at Begbrook Primary Academy pupils develop skills and values to be responsible citizens. The school aims to encourage pupils to appreciate our natural world as a source of wonder and inspiration and to play their part in maintaining and improving their immediate environment. Pupils are taught to value our wider school family as a resource for learning and to view home, school and the wider community as a partnership. Above all, the school aims to keep all children at the centre of all it does.

Our Academy is part of the Cabot Learning Federation and benefits from all the advantages of being part of a group of academies.

Children visit other academies for sports and other events such as language or science activities.  Students from the secondary academies visit us for to perform drama and take part in sports activities, as well as lead some of them.  We share good practice between academies and teachers from all academies in the Federation visit the other academies for professional development.

Here at the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF), we like to celebrate. We celebrate exam results, collaboration, achievement, innovations and new ideas; we celebrate the determination of our students; we celebrate the amazing role played by staff; and we celebrate the efforts and successes of our team.

We celebrate the small achievements and the big. But far from being self-congratulatory, we are always looking to learn, to improve education and to make a positive difference for students and their families. And that's where you come in.

The Cabot Learning Federation is a partnership of schools that is sponsored by Rolls Royce PLC and The University of the West of England (UWE). It now sponsors twelve academies in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Weston super Mare and Bath. This means that we are responsible and accountable for the education of 5600 students between the ages of 3 and 19 and for the employment and support of over 1200 staff.

Our vision is based upon our mission of "collaboration for outstanding achievement" and the work that is now shared between our schools at senior and middle leadership level, teachers and support staff underpins this every day. All of our staff are employed by the CLF and this enables us to give colleagues the opportunity to work in more than one academy either for their own development or because the skills that they have are needed by more than one of our schools.

The Cabot Learning Federation enters 2015 with a new CEO, Steve Taylor. Steve has played a major part in the development of the federation, both as Principal of Bristol Metropolitan Academy and Executive Principal of the CLF: We are moving forward into the next era with confidence, building on the success of our 3-19 collaboration and continuing to change the face of learning and community cohesion for the areas in which our academies are located.
