Bideford College is located in the historic port town of Bideford on the stunning North Devon coast. We moved into our brand new, state of the art buildings in September 2010, providing us with the facilities required to deliver a curriculum designed to meet the needs of all our students.

We have a clear strategy for continuous improvement characterised by a relentless focus on excellence in teaching and learning. Our vision is to ensure outstanding progress for all our students, achieved through proven, research led pedagogy that supports and nurtures academic development.

The college is proud of the broad and balanced curriculum that it offers our students in both the main school and in the sixth form. It offers the potential to develop a range of academic and vocational skills that prepares young people for careers in the 21st century. This is underpinned by a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities that nurtures the development of sporting, artistic and technical talents that sees our students succeed at a local, national and international level.

Bideford College is a caring community and we are proud of the inclusive school climate that has been created through the positive relationships developed between students and staff. Working for us

Situated in North Devon within the historic port of Bideford, the College has lots to offer to potential candidates. Nestled between the vast National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor and surrounded by blue flag beaches, North Devon offers an idyllic setting for those with an interest in the outdoors and family life. The South West Coastal Path passes nearby and the town sits within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere (web).

The town itself is known as ‘the little white town’ due to the main colour of the properties being white! The river Torridge runs through the town and provides for a relaxing stroll along the Tarka Trail as well as a means to visit neighbouring Lundy Island on the ferry (web). The town boasts many fine eateries and a small but well established shopping area with many specialist retailers and a few high street brands. The town is served by three major supermarkets as well as numerous fine food outlets. On the edge of town is the ‘Atlantic Village’ retail park with outlet and discount shopping stores. The College has 185 parking spaces (permit controlled), full Wi-Fi for your own devices and College staff are permitted free use of the College Fitness suite out of hours. The College facilities are used extensively for events and entertainment (see www.devonhall.co.uk) for which staff receive priority booking / discounts. Bideford is located approximately 10 miles (15 minutes) from Barnstaple (the nearest large town / train links) and 50 miles (1.25 hours) from Exeter (nearest large city / airport / university), it is connected to the M5 via the A361 link road and the A39 Atlantic Highway.
