Overview

The school building originates from the 1930s when it was built as a girls’ secondary school before being converted into primary accommodation in 1974. The school building and the site are a real strength of the school and we have had extensive building work and refurbishment undertaken over the years.

The school is light and airy and presents a rich and exciting learning environment for all. The site extends for six acres with an orchard, a wildlife corridor and a summer meadow, and exciting views over the city. The stunning grounds have been developed for curriculum use and we have an all weather playground for both school and community use.

We currently have two classes in each year group . There are four bases taught by teams of teachers and TAs – Foundation Stage, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2.  Foundation 1 and 2 children are taught in a Foundation Unit that allows appropriate and flexible provision to benefit all the children. The staffing levels are considerably enhanced by high quality support staff working across the school.

The senior management team consists of the Head Teacher, a Deputy Head Teacher and the Director of Business & Community.  The Governing Body provides strong support and challenge to the leadership of the school. The school is committed to professional development and is in partnership with Transform Teaching Alliance which is based in Sneinton.  Generous amounts of PPA and other release time are available for CPD.

Blue Bell Hill is regarded as an inclusive school which makes good provision for pupils who have a disability or learning needs. We are proud of our work in sports and the creative arts, and the curriculum is considerably enriched by our extensive out of hours’ provision.

We are an Extended School offering before and after school clubs, holiday clubs and family learning. Our building and site has flexible opening hours in order to accommodate the community use. We are also proud of our many links with local businesses which have a major impact on the life of our pupils and their families.

About Us

Blue Bell Hill Primary School sits proudly in the heart of the diverse community of St Ann’s, in the city of Nottingham.

The school offers a safe, welcoming and creative environment which allows the children, families and staff to thrive and reach their full potential.

We ‘Aim High’ and offer a stimulating curriculum which allows all children to achieve their best; experience a wide range of activities and most importantly have fun whilst learning.  This is achieved through: high quality teaching; excellent pastoral support and many exiting links with local businesses and partnerships.  The children in our school make better than expected progress in the core subjects whilst also discovering how to be accomplished, independent learners with skills that will stay with them for life.

As a school we are very proud of the achievements of our pupils and the wider community and we like to ‘Celebrate Success’.  Pupils’ good attendance, behaviour, work and reading are regularly celebrated and pupils are encouraged to take pleasure in the success of others. Blue Bell Hill is more than just a school.  It is an extended family that works together with all involved to deliver the very best possible outcomes for all those we are lucky enough to teach.

The children, staff and families will tell you: “AT BLUE BELL HILL WE ARE AWESOME!”
