Horizons College

Horizons College is a specialist facility for young adults aged 16-25 who have severe or profound multiple learning difficulties and / or complex needs

The College provides a holistic learning programme for young people which is challenging, relevant and fun to support individual progression and preparation for adulthood.  It is specifically aimed at learners with a range of learning and physical disabilities including those with complex medical and therapeutic needs and/or sensory processing difficulties.  Some may have additional complex social and behavioural related needs.

In order to meet this wide range of needs learners require a specialist provision including: purposely designed accommodation, access to a range of expert and multi-agency support such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, visually and hearing impaired specialists amongst others.

Our Vision: Empowering learners to shape their future

Our Mission:

  • To be an innovative and inclusive learning community for all
  • To provide a safe, stimulating learner centred environment
  • To equip learners with skills for work and life
  • To collaborate with our local community and employers through effective partnerships
  • To develop independence and the confidence to carry on their journey through adult life

Churchward Free School

Churchward School was approved by the Department of Education in 2016 with an expected opening date of September 2018 to provide secondary and sixth form places for students with autism and associated social communication difficulties.

We are very excited about the proposed special school as we are convinced that it will provide life changing opportunities for some of the most challenged young people in our community.

The school will be part of the Brunel SEN MAT, and sponsored by Uplands School.

Our Vision & Ethos
