Brynteg Comprehensive Careers Site Eteach (14229)

Welcome to our website which aims to give you a flavour of the provision at Brynteg.

As the headteacher, I am proud of being able to lead such a wonderful school, a school which has achieved so many things already and it is my intention to ensure that this continues in the future.  Whilst being proud of our excellent performance in examinations, I realise that schools are about more than this and aim to ensure that all of our pupils access a wide range of enrichment activities.

The school is unique in that, whilst being an 11-18 school with a popular and successful sixth form, it is organised into two distinct sites (lower and upper school) on the same campus.  This means that pupils have the benefit of feeling part of a much smaller school yet with all the benefits of being part of a large school.

At the core of the success of Brynteg School is a strong and focussed pastoral system. Only happy pupils learn and our provision ensures that this is the case.  At times, when needed, pupils know that there is a caring system in place which will meet their needs and allow them to access learning.

Every year, pupils, parents and carers are invited in to school to our Open Evening.  This is an opportunity to see just what makes Brynteg so special.  Details of the evening can be found on the main page of this website or by visiting our Twitter feed (@BryntegSchool) or Facebook page (Brynteg School).  You are more than welcome to visit the school when it is session, all we ask is that you contact us in advance in order for us to ensure that the necessary arrangements are made.

The pupils and staff are justifiably proud of the school.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and please, take up the offer of visiting us to find out why the pupils and staff are so proud of this wonderful school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss any aspect of our provision further.

About Us

THE PHILOSOPHY, VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT  OF BRYNTEG SCHOOLA fo ben, bid bont ‘Let the leader be a bridge’ 'To become a leader, you must help others achieve their aims' The philosophy of the school, embodied in its long traditions, is clearly indicated by its motto taken from the Mabinogion – “A vo penn bid pont” – “He who is a leader must be a bridge.”

These were the words of a Welsh prince, Bendigeidfran, on the banks of an uncrossable river, before he lay down so that his army could cross over on his back. Not only does this imply support and care for others, the importance of service, humility and the ability to offer protection when needed, but also proclaims the importance of communication and community in a civilised society and the attempt to bring concern for the less fortunate in the world. What follows is a statement of intent. It is something to which we should aspire, and by which we should assess our work and standards. We will not necessarily achieve all this all the time with all pupils, but we must consider what the school is for, and what we hope to do. Our vision is to meet the meet the diverse needs of every child and to help pupils acquire the knowledge, essential skills and qualifications needed to prepare them for a constantly changing technological world. We strive to encourage all pupils, supported by well qualified and trained staff, to develop their talents to the fullest possible extent to become the leaders of tomorrow. It is our expectation that all staff identify and pursue CPD opportunities that enhance both their professional development in addition to pupil outcomes. This aim is supported by schools policy and practice in addition to partnerships with other organisations.
