At Burhill, we are passionate about learning, and we believe everyone is a learner. Our job at Burhill is to make sure everyone can achieve and attain the best they can. We value independent thinkers at Burhill, so we want children to develop a positive and independent attitude towards learning. Every child is encouraged to develop as an individual in a strongly caring and supportive environment where they feel safe and secure. The school provides a uniquely broad, balanced and creative curriculum so that children enjoy learning, are curious and motivated to learn. We encourage children to find out more about the world they live in and to understand the contribution they can make. Children have the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning and also for their own school environment.

At Burhill we aim to:
Burhill Primary School can be found on the edge of open countryside near Hersham Village green. The school log dates back to 1870, when the school was located in the old village school buildings on Hersham Green. The current Burhill Infant School was opened in 1954, in its present building in New Berry Lane. The main school building houses twenty one classrooms, a hall, dance studio, technology lab, IT suite, library and a dining room. The large playground beside the main building has plenty of climbing and clambering equipment, complete with safe soft landing areas. The school has extensive grounds, which are used at playtime in good weather, PE, games and environmental studies. At the side of the school is a pond in a study area, while behind the school you can find a wild area of trees and flowers planted by the children, together with our school bee hives. The school is an extended school offering wrap around childcare during term time.

Our bees are a popular feature with the children and are studied throughout the school. We now have an observation hive in the school which allows the children to watch the bees at work. We also have chickens who are looked after by the children, each class is responsible for their welfare for a week and in turn harvest their eggs.
