Overview

Cranmere Primary School is a friendly, happy school set in beautiful grounds in a peaceful location at the end of a cul de sac. During the Easter Holidays 2016 we moved to brand new premises. The best way to appreciate our school is to visit, so please feel free to ring or e-mail the school office to arrange an appointment. We will be delighted to show you around. We are an all-through primary, which means that children start with us in the year of their fifth birthday and remain with us until they are ready for secondary school.

We also have a nursery provision, which means we can take children from the term following their third birthday. There are many advantages to this: we are able to pair up younger and older classes, providing the youngest children with a “Big Buddy” to help them settle in; we are able to get to know the children and their families really well in the time they spend with us; parents have the convenience of their younger and older children all being taught in the same place and there is no need to repeat the application process after only a couple of years. We started life as a small school, with seven classes, but we are expanding and have admitted two classes of 30 children each September since 2009, and three classes in Reception 2016. Although we are growing, we have maintained our small school ethos, whereby we are committed to the personal wellbeing of all of our children and work closely with parents and carers to ensure that all children thrive here. We are a very inclusive school, welcoming children of all abilities, backgrounds and faiths, including those with no faith. We take care to differentiate work so that the more able are challenged and excited, whilst at the same time supporting those who need additional help.

Our aim is to provide the best learning opportunity for all children in our school. That means that we offer a wide and rich curriculum, based on the National Curriculum, enriched with many opportunities to learn from first hand experience, from visits, visitors and residential trips.

We have a strong special needs team dedicated to helping individual children reach their targets, and each class benefits from the help of an expert classroom assistant working in partnership to assist the class teacher. We are proud of our good results in the statutory end of key stage tests, whilst recognising that they provide only a snapshot of how each different cohort of children has performed. We enrich our curriculum with swimming lessons for at a local pool and with modern foreign languages classes for Years 3 to 6
