St. John’s is a close-knit, family orientated school where children are treated with care and respect and as individuals who all have talents that need nurturing and developing. We focus on providing the very best academic and pastoral care that we can offer and strongly believe in the value that a breadth of experiences adds to children as their characters develop. Every child at the school represents us in sport in some capacity and every child takes part in music and school productions to develop their confidence, team ethic and communication skills. As children move through the school they are afforded a wealth of opportunities to become leaders and take on responsibility.
As you would expect, class sizes are small and the staff to pupil ratio is difficult to beat with specialist teaching from a young age in all subjects. Differentiation is the key to the approach we encourage staff to use and we aim to stretch the high achievers but also offer superb learning support to those who need a little extra help with their studies. It is in part for these reasons that senior schools recognise that St. John’s children have great potential and a lot to offer. We have a 100% success rate at Common Entrance and many pupils are offered scholarships to join senior schools.
