Living in Kingston

One of London’s liveliest boroughs. Life revolves around the Thames, with the buzzing market town of Kingston being the main attraction. Kingston High Street runs parallel to the Thames so it many of its favourite restaurants are found situated along the banks of the riverside.

With the popular Kingston University based here there is an abundance of bars and clubs to entertain the vibrant student population and younger residence.

Kingston upon Thames is one of the greener areas of the capital with two royal parks in neighbouring Richmond upon Thames. Local parks hold facilities to cater for all those who enjoy the great outdoors, such as Canbury Gardens which is home to the Kingston Rowing Club boathouse and is in turn a great spot for fishing.

Only half an hour from central London it has excellent train links. Situated near to the A3 and M25 it is also easily accessible by car. The river bus as an excellent alternative to get into Canary Wharf and London Bridge.

Landmarks

Wimbledon Championships - In the neighbouring Merton bordering Kingston, the world famous Wimbledon Championships takes place. Indulge yourself in summer fun with a spot of Pimms, and Strawberries and Cream.

The Thames - Enjoy the beauty of the Thames when the weather permits it on foot, bicycle or boat.

Kingston Markets - Hunt for bargains in Kingston’s 800 year old markets.

Chessington World of Adventure - One of the UKs biggest and best theme parks. Great for those ‘kidults’ amongst us.

“Out of Order” by David Mach- Iconic sculpture that has been snapped by tourists the world around. If you’ve seen photos of London you’ll probably have seen this.

Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust

Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust (OHC&AT) together form a family of specialist providers. As an outstanding provider and Academy sponsor, Orchard Hill College has a strong track record for making a positive impact within the local community it serves.

Our ambition is to contribute further to improving the education offer for all pupils and students in our communities, including those with SEN. Currently, the College offers specialist education programmes for students aged 16 and over in five main Centres and additional satellite provision in London and Surrey. The Academy Trust enables us to build on and extend the scope of our work, so that Academy pupils can also benefit from our expertise and access a greater range of opportunities arising from our strong community and stakeholder networks.

We are steadily extending the reach of our provision within our local communities from primary through secondary to further education, smoothing transitions and giving pupils and students the benefit of expertise generated from our collegiate approach to knowledge-sharing amongst our staff. All of this is underpinned by a suite of shared services whose expert staff work closely with students and staff in each school/College centre and with affiliates and commissioning organisations to improve educational and operational quality at every level to benefit our students.
