Gartree is a vibrant and thriving Leicestershire high school, based in the local community of Oadby. We educate around 800 pupils and we are very proud of the unique contribution each and every one of them makes to school life.

As you explore these pages you will get a sense of our school culture, our core values and our expectations. We have a modern building and our school is set in lovely grounds. We take great pride in our learning environment and strive to enhance the day to day experience of our school community.

At Gartree we offer a broad and balanced academic curriculum. A special feature of our school is the enrichment opportunities devised through the creative energies of our staff. Such activities develop a full range of skills and provide memorable experiences for our pupils.

Whilst academic achievement and intellectual development are central to our work, social and emotional learning is at the heart of what we do. We have high expectations of our students and push them towards greater and greater attainment. In addition, we are committed to nurturing an environment within which all feel valued and safe – and in doing this we develop successful, happy and confident young people.

Our pupils expect to work hard and behave in a respectful manner. At Gartree High School we create a sense of enjoyment, to significantly improve learning and make a difference to young people. Every decision we make here is in the interest of our pupils.

Although founded on its present site in 1960, a new school building opened in 2007 and visitors to our school are always impressed with the spacious, light and modern facilities we have to offer.  The school sits in beautiful grounds, on the edge of the Leicestershire countryside. We take great pride in our learning environment but emphasise that what really makes out school outstanding is the day-to-day learning that takes place within it.

At Gartree we offer a broad and balanced academic curriculum.  The vast majority of our students take the English Baccalaureate at GCSE and these academic subjects are combined with an offer of a range of creative subjects. A wide range of enrichment opportunities, devised through the creative energies of our staff, are also offered.
