Overview

Gateway School is a co-educational, independent preparatory school for children aged two to eleven located in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire.

We are immensely proud of our school and our children – who are our greatest ambassadors. They are respectful, responsible, hard-working, fun-loving and well-rounded individuals who thrive in the ethos of a school that allows them to discover their strengths, take risks in their learning and set challenges for themselves.

At Gateway School we encourage every child to think independently, to be continuously inquisitive and self-reflective, whilst enabling them to be individuals who are valued for who they are. We place a great emphasis on discovering and nurturing every pupil’s individual talent and celebrating their achievements.

As a result, our children move onto secondary school with a concrete sense of their own strengths and a confidence that goes hand in hand with that self-belief.

Our highly motivated staff and children work happily together to promote a warm, inclusive atmosphere that fosters success.

AboutUs

A Supportive Personal Approach

Gateway offers a broad curriculum in a positive stimulating environment. A strong commitment both to academic and creative subjects is balanced with practical and physical activities, ensuring all children will discover their areas of talent, build self-confidence and achieve their potential. Ultimately It is our core belief that education is not just about academic success; it is about building a foundation that gives each child the confidence and skills they need to be the best they can be now and in the future. For one this might be academic studies, for another sport, whilst another might find their forte in music

A friendly flexible school

We work extremely hard to make our children and parents feel secure, comfortable and welcome at all times, operating an ‘open door’ policy where parents and children can talk to staff about anything at any time.

Celebrating achievement

Recognition of every child’s daily achievement is integral to Gateway’s approach. Our intent is to develop each child’s faith in their abilities at an early age. With this solid foundation, Gateway children gain self-confidence and motivation needed to gain good results in national tests and to succeed in future challenges. At Gateway School, all pupils have the opportunity to challenge themselves and to strive to be the best they can be.

Supporting every child

Gateway is a non-selective school that offers children a nurturing educational environment. Our teachers build strong relationships with every child in order to discover and develop their individual abilities. Small class sizes allow staff to devote attention to individual children, differentiating their teaching to ensure high achievement across the ability spectrum.

Going beyond the curriculum

We follow the National Curriculum, while expanding its scope substantially to inspire children and develop their inherent love of learning. By creating links across academic subjects we teach children how to connect and apply knowledge independently.

Part of Bellevue Education...

Gatewary School is part of Bellevue Education

Bellevue Education is committed to excellence in education. Each Bellevue school is run independently but shares the same values: we believe in broad curricula delivered in innovative ways that excite and engage children; we believe in investment – in teachers, buildings and technology; and we believe that exceptional results should be a by-product of the education that we offer, not the exclusive focus.

We recruit the best teachers and head teachers and make sure that they are fully supported with innovative resources, shared best practice and focused training. We involve parents in their children’s education with not only regular meetings and written reports, but also with head teacher blogs, social media and parent workshops. Most importantly, we treat every child as an individual with their own unique set of talents.

Bellevue pupils are encouraged to aim high, and we provide them with everything they need to succeed.
