Overview

Glebelands is committed to providing all of our children with a rich learning environment. This means placing due emphasis on children becoming proficient in English and maths whilst providing them with many different experiences both in and out of the classroom.

Our Aims

At Glebelands we want children to:

·        strive for their best achievement

·        have confidence, self-worth and   a positive attitude to learning

·        develop enquiring minds and a spirit of curiosity

·        become independent learners

·        develop individual strengths

·        be tolerant and respectful of themselves and others

·        care for their body, mind and spirit

·        take their place as active members of the world community

About Us

Glebelands opened in 1998 and we currently have 301 children.

40% of our children come from our priority area: the two housing estates by the school and by the Trelleborg island. The remainder come from other parts of Beaumont Leys, Birstall, Thurcaston and even further afield. Glebelands is a local authority state school in the City of Leicester.

We can admit up to 40 children in a year group, so this means that we have mixed year classes and the classes change every year. We follow a two year rolling programme of topics to ensure that the children do not repeat or miss out on any learning. English and maths are taught on a one year programme of study and teachers provide work for the different abilities within their classes.

The school is set in spacious grounds. Nursery & Reception children have their own playground and field. There is a range of fixed outdoor equipment for the children to play on, and children in years 1 to 6 can borrow smaller play equipment at lunchtimes using a key-ring system. We are in the process of developing a sensory garden for the children to explore and enjoy.
