Overview

Now working within the "Federation of Lightwater Schools", alongside Lightwater Village School, Hammond has a clear vision which is simply to ensure that each child reaches their full potential both academically and socially. As we build on their transition from key stage 1, children will be guided to discover their personal strengths and helped to develop within a broad and balanced curriculum.  Through doing so and by offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities we aim to ensure that children are nurtured and their self-esteem flourishes.

We live in a fast changing and uncertain world and at Hammond School children will begin to learn about and manage diverse aspects of their lives. We teach, guide, challenge and nurture children to value themselves and the contribution they can make in shaping their life and the society in which they live. We have a clear set of Hammond Values which underpins our learning and which provides clear guidance to all who learn and work with us.

Local Area

Lightwater village, in the county of Surrey, England, is within easy reach of many places of interest.

To the north, Windsor Castle (a residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth), with the River Thames nearby and Windsor Great Park, is some 8 miles distance. Slightly closer is Ascot Racecourse, and scenic Virginia Water with its beautiful valley gardens. The town of Guildford, 9 miles to the south, boasts an imposing Cathedral on a hill top, plus many places of historical interest.

Public transport links to London are available from nearby Bagshot or Sunningdale Stations, with a direct link to the main central London terminus, Waterloo, reached within 45 minutes travelling time.

London Heathrow Airport is 20 miles east-north-east, reached via the M3 and M25 motorways, or the A30, whilst London Gatwick Airport is some 45 miles south-east, via the M3, M25 and M23. The village is a quarter mile from the M3 motorway, providing easy access to the south coast of England, with the New Forest and port of Southampton, some 70 miles distance.

Camberley, our nearest town, is just 4 miles away and has a 'Main Square' development including all the major High Street shops and several stores. Camberley also has good sports facilities - tennis courts, and a Leisure Centre with swimming pool. Also, a theatre, a recently completed cinema complex, and substantial library.

Lightwater has its own Country Park, with some 100 acres of mainly heather covered ground, complete with "Nature Trail", together with a Leisure Centre and Visitors Centre. At the latter venue many nature events are held.

The village has full medical facilities and veterinary surgery, its own Library, Post Office and Bank, a range of shops and petrol station.

Headteacher's Welcome

Our children, staff, parents and governors are extremely proud of all we achieve in Hammond School.

Through these pages we hope to keep you informed and involved whilst catching a glimpse of the daily life of our highly successful and popular school. Hammond has a clear vision which is simply to ensure that every child experiences the enjoyment of learning whilst they grow and develop, enabling each to achieve their full potential both academically and personally. Together we Learn, Enjoy, Grow and Achieve.

As we build on their transition from key stage 1, children are guided to discover their personal strengths and helped to develop within a creative and inspiring curriculum. Through doing so and by offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities we aim to ensure that children are nurtured and their self-esteem flourishes.

We live in a fast changing world and at Hammond School pupils will begin to learn about and manage diverse aspects of their lives. As well supporting children to achieve academic excellence, we teach, guide, challenge and nurture pupils to value themselves and the contribution they can make in shaping their life and the society in which they live. We have a clear set of Values which underpin our learning and which provide clear guidance to all who learn and work with us.

Over four years at Hammond, children are well taught and offered experiences which broaden and develop character and thinking, enabling them to flourish with confidence and succeed with their strengths. Children learn to take responsibility for their actions, understanding that they have the power to make the right decisions and to benefit from these excellent opportunities.
